We updated the mechanical room with solutions for hot water heat, heat recovery, and chilled water piping systems tying into one of 29 air handling units. The project had more than 10,000 feet of hydronic piping to insulate with fiberglass.

We insulated outdoor product lines with 2-inch thick insulation and embossed aluminum jackets. We used removable and reusable insulation blankets on the valves and flanges for maintenance servicing and accessibility. The product lines operate at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or more on this outdoor system.

We provided new heat exchangers for hot water heat. We tore out the old system and added new piping and equipment. Then, we reinsulated the heat exchanger bodies and piping with fiberglass pipe insulation.

Job type: Insulation relief project
CO2 piping and equipment were stripped off and reinsulated. The piping received a Polyguard RT 2400 corrosion inhibitor, and the piping was insulated with Styrofoam pipe insulation with a zero-perm vapor barrier and an embossed aluminum jacket. The temperature of the column is -50 degrees Fahrenheit, and all other piping operates at -16 degrees Fahrenheit.

We reinsulated a CO2 storage tank. We started by removing the old insulation. Another team completed a corrosion inspection before we applied a blue corrosion inhibitor to the metal surface. We also applied a layer of fabrication polyisocyanurate insulation. The project successfully reduced product loss from venting and reduced energy costs.

Iowa Insulation Inc provided a new level of control. We reinsulated areas to match the existing insulation with 1-inch thick, flexible elastomeric insulation. Then, we painted it to match the existing pipe insulation.
Iowa State University Meat Lab

Job type: Maintenance and service on the insulation systems
For this project, the insulation system needed to be torn off for new mechanical repairs. We made improvements to the insulation system. This included PVC jacketing, insulation blankets on steam valves and PRVs, and increased insulation thicknesses for energy savings.
